The 101Soccer Team Member Bios

At 101Soccer, we've gathered a group of talented professionals to help bring a different perspective on the world's game to our readers and listeners.  101Soccer has staffers that work professionally in each of the three major media; television, print and radio.  We've assembled these staff bios to help familiarize you with our starting XI and basically let you know who we are.

As always, 101Soccer is looking for talented people that love the beautiful game.  Contact us at Soccer@101Soccer.com if you are interested in joining the team.

Danny Page - host & columnist pagebio.jpg

Danny Page is the founder of 101Soccer.com, and the host of the site’s premier program, 101Soccer Live. He provides audio updates from the world of soccer five days per week with 101Soccer Daily and also writes the International Intrigue column for 101Soccer.com. At the ripe age of ten, Danny was captivated when the US hosted 1994 World Cup, and has been a soccer fan ever since.

Danny has served as a more conventional broadcaster for a number of media outlets, including Mighty 1090AM in San Diego, KSCR Radio in Los Angeles and NewsTalk 1520 KVTA in his hometown of Ventura, California.

Danny had the opportunity to broadcast the 2004 and 2005 USC football seasons for KSCR, including the 2005 Orange Bowl and 2006 Rose Bowl, both of which were college football’s national championship game. However, his greatest thrill as a professional was calling USC’s 34-31 victory over Notre Dame in South Bend in October 2005, as Matt Leinart (without any help whatsoever from Reggie Bush) fell into the end zone for the winning touchdown with just three seconds left.

In addition to seeing the Mexican national team and FC Barcelona play at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, Danny has attended World Cup matches in Germany and seen Real Madrid and Barcelona play at their home stadiums in Spain. He’s been to a number of MLS venues, and has five appearances at US Men’s national team matches.

His ultimate goals in soccer are to reach 100 appearances for the US Men’s National Team, see the Americans one day hoist the World Cup, and change the way people in this country look at the world’s game.

Patrick Kinmartin - columnist kinmartinbio.jpg

Patrick Kinmartin is a sports writer for the Chico Enterprise-Record in Chico, (Northern) California who covers the Chico Rooks of the National Premier Soccer League and the Chico Outlaws of the Golden Baseball League. During his time as a print journalism student at the University of Southern California, PK broke into the Premier League as an Aston Villa follower pre-Martin O'Neill and has vowed to ride with the Claret and Blue all the way to a future Champions League bid -- or relegation for that matter.

Patrick Kinmartin writes PK’s Premiership for 101Soccer.com every Monday and makes frequent appearances on 101Soccer Live.

You can contact him by e-mail, PK@101Soccer.com.

Jeff Friedman - contributor Friedmanbio.jpg

Jeff plays center back for the 101 soccer team, and also moonlights as a correspondent.  He has been with the show since its inception in September of 2007.

Jeff has played the beautiful game his whole life, and has loved every second of it.  He played collegiately at Arizona State University, where he served as the team captain for both his Junior and Senior seasons.  Jeff has also played for the U.S. Maccabi team, on both the full and U-20 sides, in Australia and Chile.

Jeff served as the color commentator for the Arizona high school soccer championship game  broadcast while in Arizona. After graduating from ASU, Jeff moved to Bozeman, MT, where he is the Sports Anchor/Director for KTVM-TV, the NBC affiliate there.

He looks forward to being a part of the bright future of 101 soccer, and is excited to be a member of the movement for American soccer.

Jeff can be reached by emailing him: jeff@101soccer.com.

Rob Tendick - webmaster

Rob is a co-founder of 101soccer.com and spends the majority of his 101 Soccer efforts working on the technical side of the ball. He has years of experience in web design and online business consulting, and truly enjoys using his expertise to help provide the web's most compelling soccer radio show and blog. Tendickbio.jpg

Rob is no stranger to the beautiful game; After being introduced to the game by his older brother, Rob began playing organized fútbol around the age of five. Rob quickly developed a passion for the game and continued a pursuit of playing on the national team through high school. Though he fell a bit short of such lofty goals, Rob excelled as a goalkeeper and striker for his high school and club teams throughout his youth.

Rob's greatest thrill as a player came when he saved 4 of 5 penalty kicks in a shootout of the championship game of the Northern California Holiday Invitational versus De La Salle High school, leading his team to a 1-0 victory. Rob was a co-captain of the Monte Vista High School men's varsity soccer team for both his junior and senior years. The Monte Vista Mustangs were winners of the North Coast Section's East Bay Athletic League, as well as the top seed in the sectional playoffs during Rob's junior season. In club play Rob was a co-captain of the Mustang Soccer League's Force, a team that competed in the NorCal Premier League. Though his competitive soccer career is now over, Rob still enjoys playing in a weekly pickup game in Sacramento, california. As a spectator Rob now enjoys catching the US National Team whenever they are on the left coast, and dreams of watching the world's finest game abroad.

The reason Rob joined efforts with Danny to create 101soccer.com is to fulfill a dream of soccer being recognized in America the same way it is worldwide. The pinnacle to him would be seeing the Red, White & Blue hoist the coupe du monde one day before he dies; Until then he is quite content helping run the 101soccer.com website and informing worldwide soccer fans about the latest in the game from a Yank's perspective.

"What part of SHUTOUT don't you understand?"

Travers "Nigel" McNeice - resident Englishman traversmcneice.jpg

My name is Travers “Nigel” McNeice and I am the world’s most passionate football (soccer) fan of all time. I currently live in Oxford, England where I am doing a Masters degree or so people think. I spend most of my time in dark smelly pubs watching endless games of footie and drinking copious amounts of warm flat good ol’ English ales. And if I am not in a pub I am usually trying to persuade Mr. Page that the premiership is the best league in the world and there is no point on focusing on anything thing else.

I followed the great game since I was in my mothers’ womb and am an Aston Villa fan ‘til I die. I grew up in Botswana Africa where my days were spent playing with lions as well as football with my brothers barefoot in the sand avoiding scorpion stings. My siblings and I are known as the “Lion Children” because of a book by the same name that we wrote about our life in Africa, but would trade all of that in for a place on the England squad…

I have been to Villa park multiple times, Spurs’s stomping ground White Hart Lane, as well as the old Arsenal stadium Highbury, and the old Wembley stadium to see a couple of England games. I very much enjoy the ‘Ask the Englishman’ segment and look forward to being involved in the show for many years to come. I recently graduated from University of California, Santa Barbara where I became a huge fan of American football, both college and NFL and am very excited at the moment as Sky Sports broadcast a ton of live NFL games every week. Hopefully ESPN will join the rest of the world and start to broadcast some Premier League games for you all by 2009!

Ask Travers a question or send him your comments by emailing him at englishman@101soccer.com.

Anthony Evgenidis - contributor Anthony Evengidisbio.jpg

Anthony is someone who lives and breathes sports and cannot imagine life without it. He grew up in Athens, Greece and at an early age became infatuated with sports due to the success of the Greek clubs and National team. He became an Olympiakos fan during his primary school years and the rest is history. After growing up in Greece he came back to the US and graduated from the University of Kansas in 2007 and since then has been working in marketing in New Jersey.

He has experienced the pandemonium within football such as flares being lit, papers flying in the air covering the sky, massive banners and of course the never-ending songs. There is nothing like celebrating a goal or the unity that brings different people together coupled with the rejoicing of millions of people.

Olympiakos is his passion and team in Greece while Manchester Utd & A.C. Milan are his teams outside of Greece.

Karaiskaki is by far his favorite venue because it gives the fans the feeling that they are right next to the players and that electricity is infectious.

Most notably he has attended the World Cup 2006 game Ivory Coast – Serbia Montenegro, Olympiakos – Panathinaikos in the Eternal Derby of Greece, Olympiakos – Liverpool in the Uefa Cup and Olympiakos – Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Anthony can be reached by emailing the 101 Soccer Live radio show, soccer@101soccer.com

Des Gallagher - contributor Des Gallagherbio.jpg

I'm Des Gallagher - born and raised in Leicester, England. I eat, breathe, and sleep football...I think it's the best game on the planet. As a kid, I loved it so much, I slept with a football. I'm a massive Leicester City FC fan through thick and thin - from relegations and play-off heartbreak to promotions and Cup Final glory - I've been there no matter what. It goes without saying, I'm an England fan. But the less we talk about that right now, the better.

I played semi-pro football in England, and I'm also an FA-qualified coach. I moved out to the States in the Summer of 2007. I feel there is a lack of authentic commentary and expert opinion on football matters here, therefore, I felt compelled to get involved. Where I come from, we have a saying: "If you want something doing right, do it yourself." I'm the captain of the Foreign Legion Football Club in LA, something that I am very proud of.

By the way, can anyone tell me why Americans call a game you play with your hands "football" and a game you play with your feet "soccer"? That one still baffles me. I'm really honored and excited to be given the opportunity to contribute to this site and I look forward to interacting and enjoying the new season with you all. Cheers!

Des can be reached by emailing the 101 Soccer Live radio show, soccer@101soccer.com
